Astounding parallels between US-Israel-led effort now to overthrow Iranian govt, and US-UK clandestine overthrow of elected Mossadegh govt in Iran in 1952...

In my latest interview with TRT tv below, I mention this crucial Western-zionist imperial continuity and the resistance of indigenous people in the ME, both of which explain what's happening today.

I also pointed out how, then and now, we see in action the five core elements that define Western imperial-colonial policies around the world: arrogance, brutality, lies, emotional drama, and the use of immense military power — all of which ultimate failed and were reversed, however, because the natives resisted as they could. Washington is considering today to join this Israeli attempt to overthrow the Iranian government by expanding the US’ already deep involvement with Israel’s assaults — which is likely to end up in due course like all the other Western imperial military adventures in Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Algeria and other lands. Equally astounding, alongside the sheer criminal brutality of the US-UK-Israeli-zionist aggressions to expand their hegemonic controls in the ME, is the infantile inability of those same governments to grasp the lessons of their own failures in the recent past.

The US-UK-Israel-zionists are not mainly motivated by their anger at being attacked; they’re angry because the natives in the ME and elsewhere in the Global South resist, and refuse to roll over and become compliant vassals, as many leaderships in the ME and the South have done. Our crime, it seems to Tel Aviv, London, Washington DC and others, is not that we threaten them — but that we have the audacity to breathe, walk, learn, speak, sing, paint, and remember to assert joyfully our identity in our own land, where they are alien invaders with high-tech killing machines.

[note - in my late night interview Monday I inadvertently said the UK, France, and Israel colluded to overthrow Iranian prime minister Mossadegh in 1953; of course, it was the US and UK who mainly did this, relying mainly on the CIA. Israel was involved three years later with the UK and France, who occupied Sinai in an attempt to overthrow Gamal Abdul Nasser in Egypt. There have been so many attempts since the 1940s by the US, UK, France, and Israel to remove populist nationalist leaders in the Middle East and replace them with puppet vassals that it’s hard to keep them straight without a scorecard :-( ]

I strongly recommend that interested readers buy and read the powerful new book by Dr Fawaz Gerges “What Really Went Wrong - the West and the Failure of Democracy in the Middle East”, Yale University Press, 2024, which goes in-depth into the US-UK-French-Israeli moves to overthrow Mossadegh and Nasser, and others around the world, and how that period helped shape the tragic and often violent history of much of the Middle East since then.

To watch this happen again now is spellbindingly shocking and criminal, but very much in line with Western imperial-colonial collusions with Israel-zionism and others to maintain the Middle East as a subjugated zone of Western control and exploitation.
